Like many of my works, &vines places a strong emphasis on the infinitely mutable design of the ampersand & its ability to act as a symbol of continuation. Here, I tie in concepts of organic growth to take new perspectives on storytelling & narrative. &vines is constantly growing; the sheets are able to be rearranged into a new, unique story each time it is read. Magnets allow them to be placed anywhere on the trellis. Each sheet has a self-designed ampersand in cut paper, a vining pattern that was relief printed using linocut, and text set in metal type and printed with letterpress. The text is set in Garamond and the paper used is BFK Rives.
